POLICE ARREST PROPRIETOR OF A1 WATER FOR FAKE PRODUCTION IN EKITI, AS GOVT SEALS FACTORY

Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the proprietor of A1 Pure Water situated behind 132KVA in Omisanjana area of Ado Ekiti for operating unlawfully and producing unhealthy sachet water.

Confirming the arrest, the public Relations officer of the command, DSP Sunday Abutu said the man was arrest based on report by authorities of the Ministry of Environment.

It was revealed that the factory had been operating without the necessary permits and licenses, rendering its operations illegal.

Ekiti State Ministry of Environment had sealed off the factory, saying the source of water used for the production of the sachet water was generated from abandoned well from a location across the road.

Speaking with newsmen, the leader of the team that sealed off the factory, Mr
Mr Samuel Adebayo explained that such unwholesome practice could cause epidermic, hence the need for urgent action.

According to him, The water factory was found to violate several standards and requirements set for sachet water production and pose risk to public health.

Reacting, Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko Ajisafe noted that illegal operation of A1 Pure Water represents a clear disregard for public health and safety regulations.

She explained that the closure of the water factory serves as a stern warning to other businesses operating within the state to adhere strictly to environmental regulations and standards.
