PLANNED PROTEST: DR OLUMUYIWA ADU ADMONISHES NIGERIANS TO EMBRACE DIALOGUE

…Implores the rich to help the needy

The generic leader and the Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr (Barrister) Olumuyiwa Adu has admonished Nigerians to embrace peace and continuous dialogue as a better alternative to the planned nationwide protest. The Legal Luminary made this statement through his Media Council.

Acknowledging the present economic challenges in the country, Dr Adu urged the masses to give the Federal government more time for the proper harmonisation of its blueprint, which he believes will holistically address many of the age- long problems bedeviling our dear country.

He also advised the other levels of government to synergize with the federal government and domesticate many of the good gestures and policies of President Tinubu -led Administration in their respective domains in order to reach out to the needy and vulnerable people at the grassroots. This will ameliorate the lingering agitations.

” Though, the fundamental human right of expression is guaranteed by our constitution, the extant laws that regulate individual’s interactions and behaviour must be respected also.

” A protest can exacerbate the level of insecurity and poverty, and can cause anarchy, wanton destruction of property, dislocation of our socio- economic development and loss of lives especially if the planning is ill-timed, ill-conceived and laced with hate and ulterior motives as it is being obviously orchestrated.

” In a way, some of these demands are legitimate but their implementation requires constitutional backings that may take some time to really actualize”, Dr Adu counselled.

The renowned Philanthropist advised the ‘ haves’ to lend helping hands to the ‘have nots’ in their immediate and extended vicinities; the situation demands that one brother should be another brother’s keeper.

He enjoined the organisers of the planned protest to put the interest of the country above their sectional or personal interests as every country battles with different forms of difficulties including insecurity and economic doldrums.

“Our actions and utterances, as leaders, must neither jeopardize the lives of the citizens nor endanger our unity”, Dr Adu submitted.
