Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has distanced himself from a series of widely circulated statements suggesting shifts in his political affiliations.
In a press release issued Wednesday by Obi’s media aide, Umar Ibrahim, it was clarified that the viral reports, one claiming Obi reaffirmed allegiance to the African Democratic Congress and another suggesting he was offered the role of National Organising Secretary in the ADC are entirely false.
“Peter Obi has been firm about his stance in the ongoing coalition,” Ibrahim stated. “He doesn’t require anyone to fabricate statements on his behalf just to serve their own agenda.”
The former Anambra State governor, frequently speculated about in political circles, remains committed to his vision of building what he calls “a new Nigeria of our dreams.”
Obi’s media office emphasized that only information released through official channels his verified social media handles or authorized media office should be considered authentic.
