Parents Lament Sluggish Admission Process at Govt Secondary Schools in Ekiti

Parents have expressed frustration over the tortuous delays in pasting the names of successful candidates for admission into Junior Secondary Schools in Ekiti.

The parents expressed their displeasure following the resumption of new Academic session, which begins today in public and private primary and secondary schools in Ekiti State.

Some parents of students seeking admission into junior secondary schools in government schools lamented the inability of government to paste the name of their children.

According to them, virtually all the public secondary schools in Ekiti State are yet to give admission to JSS 1 students that did placement examination.

Our correspondents who visited some of the secondary schools including Harding Model College, Ado Ekiti, reports that the new students seeking admission into Junior Secondary School and their parents were not allowed to gain access into the school premises.

In an interview, two of the parents, Mrs Ayoola Adeola and Mr Gideon Okoro said government ought to have done the placement before resumption, saying such was uncalled for.

Other parents whose children were promoted to new classes complained about the cost of books and other learning materials, saying they find it difficult to meet the needs of their children due to the economic hardship affecting the nation.

Our correspondent gathered that the faces of the students seeking admission into JSS 1 were not happy as their expectations were not meant.

Efforts to speak with the Commissioner of Education in Ekiti State, Dr Adebimpe Aderiye proved abortive as some of her staff said that she was busy.
