…sets to hold ‘Tinubu Loyalty Walk’
A group, All Progressives Congress Youth League, APCYL, Oyo State Chapter, has berated the administration of Seyi Makinde over what they termed as ‘excessive borrowing’ to the detriment of the progress of the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by its State Coordinator, Ayobami Dagilogba and State Publicity Secretary, Akanni Muhammed.
The group urged Governor Makinde to prioritize the welfare of the people rather than focusing on misplaced priorities against the development of the state.
“There’s a need to know that Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration has been marred by controversy and neglect of critical sectors. Despite being in office, no model schools have been built, depriving students of quality education. The exodus of medical personnel from government hospitals has compromised healthcare delivery, leaving citizens to suffer. The lack of local government autonomy has stifled grassroots development, while farmers struggle to access support and resources.
“Meanwhile, Governor Makinde’s pursuit of his unrealistic presidential ambitions has raised questions about his priorities. The recent distribution of multimillion-naira cars to his cronies, dubbed “Father Christmas,” has sparked outrage and perceptions of misplaced priorities. This act of extravagance starkly contrasts with the state’s developmental challenges.
“The people of Oyo State deserve better governance, and it’s essential for leaders to prioritize their needs and welfare. The PDP government’s performance under Governor Makinde’s leadership has fallen short of expectations, and citizens are demanding change.”
They equally called for unity of purpose among the APC faithful noting that youth inclusivity and genuine reconciliation must be prioritize for the interest of the party.
While calling for a transparent system against any form of imposition of candidates during the party’s primary, they announced plans to stage loyalty walk for President Bola Tinubu.
“The APC in Oyo State must remain united and avoid divisive factions before, during, and after the party congresses. Only through collective purpose can we achieve resounding success in 2027.
“Young people must be fully integrated into party governance and administration. Their energy, creativity, and vibrancy are crucial to repositioning the party for victory.
“The leadership must prioritize reconciliation among aggrieved members. Healing divisions will rebuild trust and restore confidence in our structures. We also want to send a strong warning to every member of our party to avoid any attitude or statements that can hinder the ongoing reconciliation process in Oyo State.
“Hon. Ibrahim Shittu, the representative of Saki West State Constituency, courageously exposed Governor Seyi Makinde’s reckless borrowing spree. We call on party leaders at both the state and national levels to guarantee his protection from political intimidation and harassment allegedly being orchestrated by the PDP-led government in Oyo State.
“The APC must guarantee free and fair internal democracy ahead of the 2027 elections. Any attempt at imposition in Oyo State will weaken our party and undermine its strength.
“We are pleased to announce that the Oyo State Chapter of APCYL will hold the Tinubu Loyalty Walk on October 4, 2025, to demonstrate our loyalty and solidarity with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) and the progressive family.”
