Ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in Ekiti State, a foremost grassroots politician, Hon. Folorunsho Adeniyi Ajayi, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Chairman, Irewolede Local Council Development Area under the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Ajayi, who doubles as the
SSA on Local Intelligence to Ekiti State Governor, made the declaration in a letter addressed to the APC Chairman in Irewolede LCDA.
The governor’s aide said his aspiration is driven by a strong desire to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the area adding his administration will foster development through inclusive governance.
The letter reads: “This decision is driven by my firm belief in the progressive ideals of the APC and my unwavering commitment to grassroots development, good governance, and people-oriented leadership.
“I am deeply convinced that Local Government remains the closest tier of government to the people and must therefore be responsive, transparent, and development-driven.
“As a loyal and dedicated member of the APC, presently serving as the Senior Special Assistant on Local Intelligence under the Governor; I have consistently supported the party’s vision of inclusive growth, social justice, and sustainable development.
“My aspiration to serve as Chairman is anchored on a clear vision to transform Irewolede LCDA through improved infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, enhanced primary healthcare delivery, quality basic education, environmental sanitation, community security, and effective revenue generation for sustainable development.
“I am passionate about mobilizing our people, strengthening community participation in governance, and ensuring that dividends of democracy reach every ward and household within Irewolede LCDA.
“If given the mandate, I shall uphold the principles of accountability, transparency, and collective responsibility while working harmoniously with party leaders, traditional institutions, and stakeholders to advance the APC agenda at the grassroots.
“I respectfully request the leadership of our great party to accept this expression of interest and grant me the opportunity to participate in the party’s nomination process in accordance with the APC constitution and guidelines.”
