The Project Coordinator of Ekiti State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), Hon. Sunday Adunmo has hinted at the completion and commissioning of some of the roads which were awarded by the Project in 2024.
Adunmo who gave the hint in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday while featuring on a radio programme said some of the roads are at advanced stages of completion.
The Project Coordinator who said contractors have been urged to redouble their efforts before the rains begin disclosed that the laying of asphalt on 3.4km FMS Farm – Oke Ako road would begin in February.
He added that the contractor handling the road has laid its sub-base up to kilometre 3 in preparation for asphalting.
Allaying the fear of shoddy job on the road, Adunmo said various teams, including the consultant, the State Project Monitoring Committee and the State Independent Project Monitoring Office, regularly monitored the projects for compliance to specifications.
On other project sites, the coordinator expressed confidence that asphalting would equally commence on Igbole-Osi-Iropora road, Enu Odi-Ita Eku-Igirigiri road and Oye-Are road by April 2025 as the RAAMP continues to ensure adherence to the plan of work submitted by the contractors.
He added that all contractors who are working on hydraulic structures have been directed to provide access culverts in order to allow residents in project benefiting communities easy access to their houses during the yuletide.
Adunmo also reassured a revisit of the five pilot roads awarded by the Project in 2021; saying that the roads would be completed this year under the road upgrade intervention component of the Project.
Meanwhile, the Project Coordinator has attributed the successes recorded on the Project to the support provided by the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji.
Adunmo said the Governor has not only provided the state’s counterpart fund but has also allowed the project to operate without interference.
He hailed the governor for the synergy among the various agencies in charge of road construction in the State; noting that the collaboration would help in providing road connectivity across the state.
