Olawale Rasheed, the Special Adviser and Spokesperson to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents not to view the governor’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election as a betrayal, clarifying that the political backing was established well before Adeleke’s recent electoral triumph.
Appearing on an Arise TV broadcast, Rasheed responded to public inquiries regarding the timing of the endorsement following the governor’s victory. He pointed out that Adeleke had publicly declared his support for Tinubu during his tenure with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and maintained that stance after moving to the Accord party, proving the commitment was not an opportunistic post-election maneuver.
According to the spokesperson, the governor’s endorsement stems purely from a strategic developmental focus aimed at securing federal support and infrastructure projects for Osun State. Rasheed highlighted ongoing federal road initiatives—including active construction on the Ilesa-Ibadan road, contract awards for the Osogbo-Ibadan stretch, and work along the Gbongan-Osogbo corridor—as concrete dividends arising from this political alignment.
Reiterating that working with the sitting president serves the best interest of the state’s residents, Rasheed reassured the public that Governor Adeleke’s actions are focused solely on driving rapid state development.
