Oore of Otun Celebrates Atapo Olomo Festival 2026 in Grand Style

It was celebration galore in Otun Ekiti at the weekend as the Oore of Otun, Oba Adekunle Adeagbo hosted indigenes, residents and guests to the 2026 edition of the Atapo Olomo Otun Ekiti Festival in grand style.

The ancient town came alive with pomp, cultural displays, and merriment as sons and daughters of Otun both at home and in the diaspora trooped home to witness the age-long festival.

The Oore, dressed in full royal regalia, led the royal procession during the festival amidst cheers from jubilant indigenes.

Dignitaries including traditional rulers, political leaders, and community stakeholders were in attendance to honour the monarch and the heritage of the town.

Speaking at the palace, Oba Adeagbo described the Atapo Olomo festival as a sacred tradition that symbolizes unity, thanksgiving, and the preservation of Yoruba culture.

He noted that the festival serves as a platform to pray for the land and to appreciate the Almighty for His mercies over the community.

The monarch used the occasion to call on Otun indigenes to remain united and committed to the development of their hometown.

Oba Adeagbo stressed that collective efforts were needed to attract infrastructure, empower youths, and create opportunities that would make the ancient town more prosperous.

During the festival traditional priests took turns to pray for peace, bumper harvest, good health, and progress for the town and all its sons and daughters wherever they may be.

The 2026 Atapo Olomo Otun Ekiti Festival ended with cultural performances, feasting, and thanksgiving. Community leaders said the grand celebration has once again reinforced Otun’s identity and its commitment to preserving traditions for future generations.
