The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has banned the arbitrary hike in the prices of food items in Ife Land.
The Ooni banned market men and women associations from inflicting more hardships on the masses through increments in the prices of food commodities in Ife.
The Ooni, who enforced the ban in Ife land through his representatives maintained that whosoever is found culpable will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
Speaking through his representative, the Ooni said: “Henceforth, the Ooni of Ife has banned all associations in the markets such as pepper sellers association, rice sellers association, among others.
“Whosoever decides to hike price of his or goods, such person will face the penalty of the land. It is an order from today that there should not be #500 pepper again, it should start from #100 and #200.
“Whosoever shorten the ration of his her rice as against the normal quantity of the measuring cup will be dealt with. When the regulators come to the market and you chase them, you shall be banished from Ile-Ife land.”
