OLD STUDENTS DONATES OVER N1.5 MILLION LABORATORY EQUIPMENT, OTHERS TO CHRIST BOYS SCHOOL ADO-EKITI

…set to launch N20 million valued software for academic, administrative purpose

As part of efforts to enhance teaching and learning, the Alumni Association of Christ Boys School Ado-Ekit, 1982/1987 set has donated over N1.5 million worth of laboratory equipment and N200,000 worth of sport jersey to the school.

Some of the items include: Beakers of different sizes, about 150 hand lens of different sizes, test tubes, tripod stand, digital balance Burette, burners, spatula, and others.

Speaking during the presentation of the items, the Worldwide President of the set, Professor Folarin Oguntoyinbo, said that the step was part of measures to ensure that students have access to qualitative education so that they would be able to compete with the counterparts globally.

He explained that Christ School is noted for academic excellence noting that the old students does not want such standard to be compromised.

According to him, no school can do well especially in science without a functional and well equipped laboratory.

He said, “We realise that we need to support education, and the school knows where it is pitching them; according to the school they need laboratory equipment, all thanks to the Committee and leadership structure that approved N1.5 million that led to the purchase of what you see today. Here are scientific equipment to aid Chemistry and Physics teaching in Christ school, and this will support the next generation of Doctors and Professors.

Also he revealed that one of the Alumni in the United State, has completed “Computer Document Managing System”, a software program for documentation which is beneficial to both academic and administrative use, citing that the N20 million valued software is a holistic network that will also offer parents and guardians the opportunity to monitor students progress.

Speaking on the donation of school jersey, he noted that, following the school’s qualification for the Millo Basketball Tournament, the Set purchased over 200,000 worth of sport jersey for the school team to encourage them to do well in the competition.

In a response, the school Principal, Chief, Atoba Ope Peter thanked the old students for the support and promised that the school would make judicious use of them.

He said, “I will deliver your message to the Proprietor, the Bishop of Anglican Diocese Ekiti, and the Ekiti Ministry of Education. I am promising you, we shall make judicious use of this equipment, we are not going to hide it anywhere or go and lock it inside one place, we need teachers who can make use of this equipment.”

Some of the Association Executives who were present at the delivery of the items include: The Association’s Vice President Comrade Sola Adigun who is the chairman of the Trade Union Congress in Ekiti State, the new Chairman of home region, Pastor Odeleye Idowu;
the Financial Officer of the home region, Oluyemi Tolu Tope; the Secretary Ado-Ekiti Local Government, Toyin Omotosho.
