Ogunlola @59: Tributes to incurable philanthropist

By Rasaq Ibrahim

In Nigeria’s convoluted and competitive political firmament, just a few individuals have perfectly distinguished themselves as pivotal political figure who has driven innovation to move the country forward. One of such uncommon gem is Barrister Omowumi Olubunmi Ogunlola who has carved an enviable niche for herself on the international grid of excellence.

Ogunlola, an amazon of repute, incurable philanthropist and humanist embodies the essence of a visionary leadership as well as transformative impact. She is a perfect and inspiring example of people in leadership.

The Ijero-Ekiti lawyer turned politician’s commitment to good governance and compassion for the downtrodden, less-privileged, widows, elderly and youths have garnered her the sobriquet “lover of the masses”. This further solidifies her position as one of the leading figures in Ekiti politics and reinforcing trust placed in her abilities and awe-inspiring height she has reached.

Yet, Ogunlola’s story extends far beyond the number of changes she has brought to the Nigeria’s patriarchal-wired polity. No wonder, she has been able to redefine representation during her stint in House of Representatives.

Her relentless dedication to qualitative and purposeful representation and her ability to translate ideas into actionable insights for benefits of the constituents has become a Sword of Damocles on the neck of her successor. No wonder, the people of Ijero/Efon/Ekiti West federal constituency are yearning for her return to the National Assembly come 2027.

Ogunlola’s strategic prowess combined with competence, ultra creativity and innovations makes her an invaluable asset in Ekiti politics and beyond.

I join friends, families and political allies to celebrate you on the anniversary of her 59 birhday. As she trudges on in life, may the Lord strengths her, showers His immeasurable blessings and mercy on her and grant her heart desires.
