… as Chairman Oloforo reiterates drivers’ commitment for re-election of Governor Oyebanji
The Ekiti State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ambassador Joseph Falope, has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on the victory recorded at the Federal High Court in the suit challenging his candidacy for the June 20, 2026 governorship election.
Addressing newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, Ambassador Falope described the judgment as a win for democracy, peace and the transport sector.
Ambassador Falope known as Oloforo said the judgment brings relief to commercial drivers and transport operators across Ekiti who have benefited from the governor’s first-term interventions.
He cited the rehabilitation of major roads, dredging of flood-prone routes in Ado-Ekiti and Ikere, and improved security along motor parks as reasons transport workers are backing continuity, saying when roads are motorable and parks are safe, business thrives.
The Ekiti NURTW boss commended Governor Oyebanji for running an issue-based campaign without intimidation, as outlined by APC Campaign Committee Chairman, Senator Cyril Fasuyi.
He noted that the governor’s plan to win in all 177 wards and 2,445 polling units shows confidence in his record on infrastructure, workers’ welfare, and youth empowerment. “Our members are in every ward. We will mobilize for a peaceful election because we have seen what good roads and prompt attention to transport issues can do,” Ambassador Falope added.
Ambassador Falope concluded by pledging the support of NURTW members for Governor Oyebanji’s re-election bid, stressing that a second term would make him the first governor to lead Ekiti for eight consecutive years.
This court victory is victory for every driver, conductor, and commuter who wants better roads and safer journeys. We congratulate His Excellency and stand with him for continuity,” the statement read.
