…as Ekiti Health Commissioner Extends Goodwill Message
The leadership of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Ekiti State has extended goodwill messages to nurses serving in the state for their love and dedication to the service of the Nation and humanity.
This is contained in a statement jointly signed by
the chairman of the Association, Mr. Oladimeji Samuel- Adegbuyi the Secretary, Miss. Olabisi Ayenioye and the PRO Mrs. Odunayo Olufunmilayo to mark this year’s International Nurses Day which is observed on May 12 every year.
The Union leaders affirmed that nurses are key determinant of health care delivery and they have lived up to expectations in Ekiti State.
The Nurses leaders urged their members to remain committed and steadfast in the discharge of their duties not minding some challenges facing them.
With the theme of this year’s celebration, “Our Nurses. Our Future. The Economic Power of Care” the nurses executives appealed to government to see to some of the demands of the nurses in the state especially the implementation of skipping for them.
They argued that nurses should not be treated like a second fiddle but should be allowed to enjoy every benefits within the Health Sector due to the roles in health care services.
Meanwhile, the commissioner for Health in Ekiti State, Dr. Oyebanji Filani has rejoiced with the nurses on this auspicious occasion of International Nurses Day.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Filani said:”I, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, in my dual capacity as the Honourable Commissioner for Health and Human Services of Ekiti State and the Chairman of the Conference of Health Commissioners in Nigeria, extend my deepest respect and appreciation to all the nurses who have been the backbone of our healthcare system.
“Your dedication to the profession and the people of Ekiti State is unparalleled. You have not only provided care and comfort to the sick and the vulnerable but have also been pivotal in our efforts to strengthen the health services across the state.
“Your role in the successful implementation of various health initiatives, especially in these challenging times, is commendable.
“As we celebrate International Nurses Day under the theme “Nurses:Our Nurses, Our Future: The Economic power of healthcare” it is a testament to your invaluable contribution and a clarion call to ensure that nurses’ voices are heard in the shaping of health policies and the future of healthcare in our nation.
