…as Alhassan defeats incumbent Treasurer, Dele Atunbi to become President
The immediate past National Deputy President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Alhaji Alhassan Yahya has been elected as the National President of Union.
Alhaji Alhassan defeated the incumbent treasurer of the Union, Mr Dele Atunbi with over three hundred votes during the 8th Triennial Delegates Conference of the Union held in Owerri, Imo State.
Atunbi scored 97, Garba scored 39 while Alhassan scored 436.
Also, a Deputy Director with Radio Nigeria, Mrs Abimbola Oyetunde emerged as the Deputy National President of Union unopposed while Mrs Ronke Afebioye Samo from Ekiti State Council was re-elected unopposed as the vice President Zone B.
Other executives members of the Union were elected unopposed.
