…as Governor Commends Journalists Contributions to Democracy
The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodima has been docorated as the grand patron of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.
Speaking after the decoration during the 8th triennial National Delegates Conference of Nigeria Union Of Journalists held in Owerri, Imo State, the Governor promised that he would continue to support NUJ.
On the theme of the conference, Media and Democracy: Journalist’s Role in Holding Leaders Accountable, Senator Uzodima commended the role of journalists in sustainability of Democracy in the country by holding government accountable and providing reliable information for the people of the society.
Speaking during the triennial Delegates Conference, the immediate past Chairman of NUJ, Chief Chris Iziguso commended the leadership style of the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodima’s commitment to the media sector, NUJ in particular.
Speaking on the theme of the conference, Chief Isiquzo noted that during his tenure, he rebranded the Union and showcased Media profession to the entire world through the help of other executives.
The immediate past Chairman called on media professionals across the country to continue upholding the tenets of the profession and charged the new executives to build on his achievements.
He used the forum to call on sports writer Association of Nigeria, SWAN to come back to the Union, saying they will benefit a lot and giving sense of belonging.
