NSCDC SENSITIZES DIVISIONAL OFFICERS, DESK OFFICERS ON CONFLICT RESOLUTION.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in in line with it’s mandate of resolution of conflict using alternative dispute resolution methods has trained the Divisional Officers, Desk Officers and Area Commanders on key performance indicators and best practices. At the event, the Ekiti State Commandant Mr. John Olatunde Fayemi urged Divisional Officers and the Peace and Conflict Resolution desk officers in the 16 Divisional Offices and 17 Local Government Development Areas to build on the current achievements in the area resolution of disputes among willing members of the State.

Commandant Fayemi who thanked the Commandant General of the Corps Dr Abubakar Ahmed Audi mni for his landmark achievements in the Corps especially those interventions geared towards reducing conflict in the society while noting that the Corps has received tremendous transformation pioneered by the Commandant General, officers and men must show appreciation by stepping up their work to make the vision of the Commandant General come to fulfillment in their operations and engagements.

The programme which was tagged “Evaluation and Sensitization Programme for Desk Officers on Key Performance Indicators for Peace and Conflict Resolution” had in attendance the resource person from Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit from National Headquarters, Superintendent of Corps Bisi Idoko who highlighted the key performance indicators and enumerated the need to have an all inclusive programme that can cater for increasing disputes between communities, farmers and herders, land disputes and other unavoidable disputes that often parvade our society.

The one-day programme which took place at the Command’s headquarters along Ado/Ikere road , Ekiti State was a curtain -raiser on some of the issues that were hitherto perceived as a challenge to the desk officers.

The Head, Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit ACC Yusuff Odunayo thanked Commandant General for facilitating the programme and urged the Divisional Officers to cascade the programme in their respective divisions to enlighten others who were not present at the programme.

Present at occasion were the Area Commanders, Divisional Officers and Peace and Conflict Resolution desk officers numbering about 56 where it was agreed that they will all work together to improve on their achievements and step campaigns to allow members of public to make use of the Unit to settle their dispute in a win-win situation.
