Notorious Thug “Seriki” Breaks Nurse’s Neck in Ekiti, Injures Other Staff

…leadership of the association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives seeks immediate arrest of suspect

A notorious thug known as Gbenga aka Seriki and his gang have allegedly broken the neck of a nurse, Comfort Olaogbesibikan working with General Hospital, Emure Ekiti.

The suspects also inflicted injuries on other staff of the hospital including the security man on guard.

Narrating her ordeal, the nurse told newsmen that Seriki rushed his five day old baby to the clinic for treatment after the baby was said to have developed complications.

She noted that the baby was brought in dead (BID) and immediately the father was notified, he pounced on her heavily leading to the fatal neck injury.

As if that was not enough, the suspect was said to have  recruited four of his gangs who joined him to unleash terror on other staff of the hospital.

The situation paralyzed activities in the hospital and as at the time of this report, the hospital has not been opened for operations due to fear of further attack from the suspects who is a known notorious criminal in the area.

Roundoffnews gathered that a delegation from the Hospital Management Board had visited the hospital for further inquiries into the matter.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Ekiti State, has described the incident as barbaric calling on the Ekiti State Police Command to fish out the suspect for prosecution.

The reaction of the association is contained in a statement signed by the chairman, Comrade Kunle Oni, Secretary, Comrade Olabisi Ayenioye and the PRO, Comrade Olaoluwa Odunayo.

According to the statement, it will be a great injustice to the injured nurse and the health community if the suspect is allowed to go unpunished, adding that such development will encourage further attack on health officials.

They noted that the injured nurse who is battling for her life had undergone several tests and X-trays as a result of the injury sustained from the brutal attack.
