The Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN), has reiterated its stance in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive that only old 200 naira note are to be reissued and circulated with the new naira notes.
This stance was made known in a press statement released on Tuesday and co-signed by the Deputy Governor, Cooperate Services, CBN, Edwin L. Adamu and the Director, Cooperate Communications, CBN, Osita Nwanisobi.
The release debunked a false press release from the CBN claiming that the President has approved the reissuing of old 500 and 1000 naira note.
According to the press release, “the Bank is working with the law enforcement agencies to investigate, apprehend and prosecute the purveyors of this fake news.”
