NMA Ekiti Elect New Executive Officers, As Oreyemi Ifedayo Emerges Chairman

…holds Luncheon, Award Ceremony in Grand Style

The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Ekiti State Branch, has elected new Executive Members that will pilot the affairs of the association for another two years.

At an election held in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday during the 27th Annual General Meeting of the association, Dr. Oreyemi Ifedayo emerged as the new Chairman.

Other elected executives are; Dr. Austine Ibikunle, Vice Chairman 1; Dr. Adeleye Tomiwa Dorcas, Vice Chairman 2; Dr. Akinluyi Oluwatobi,
Secretary.

The rest are; Dr. Adaramola Johnson Olaniyi, Assistant Secretary 1; Dr. Akomolafe Shina Emmanuel, Assistant Secretary 2; Dr. Temitope Chidiebere, Treasurer; Dr. Raji Mustapha, Financial Director and Dr. Omotosho Emmanuel Oluwatobi, Publicity Director.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Ifedayo pledged to prioritize the welfare of his members as regards the issue of emoluments and salaries adding that such will retain the best hands in the State.

The new Chairman, who regretted the worsening cases of violence against health workers, particularly doctors in the State, promised to nip the menace in the bud.

His words: “Over the course of the next two years, we still have quite a lot of the things we need to look into for the interest of our doctors.

“There is worsening cases where violence against health workers is increasing across the length and breadth of our state and even in the entire nation and the world at large. We need to look into the outrage that is continuously been shown by members of the public against health workers and doctors in particular within the state.

“We still have some things to fine-tune about the welfare of our members with regards to emoluments and salaries within the state so that we can be able to retain and keep the best hands to take care of our dear people in Ekiti State over the course of the next two years.

“We will be looking to do so much more for our association, improving the facilities, creating a more robust and conducive environment for all our people so that members can have that sense of well-being.”

In his farewell address, the immediate past Chairman of the association, Dr. Babatunde Rosiji appreciated the members for their dedication and commitment to the growth of the association during his tenure.

He extended his gratitude to the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji for accommodating the numerous demands of the association and ensuring the payment of hazard allowances for health workers in the State.

While appealing to members to support the new State Officers Committee, the past Chairman urged the new executives to “engage the government reasonably without always making recourse to industrial action.”

The event attracted top government functionaries including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, Head of Service in Ekiti State, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, among others.

Awards were also presented to deserving individuals, who have contributed to the growth of NMA in the State including the State Governor, past leaders of the association, among others.
