The Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti repeated history again as the Institution’s contingent to the 21st NIPOGA games hauled a total of 46 Medals, comprising 23 Gold, 14 Silver and 9 Bronze to emerge as the overall winner of the 21st NIPOGA games concluded at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State.
It was the first time in recent years that any Polytechnic would win the tournament, where 39 Institutions participated, back-to-back following a similar feat performed in 2020 at the 20th edition of NIPOGA held at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
It would be recalled that the first time Ado Ekiti lifted the NIPOGA first position was at the 15th NIPOGA game hosted at Ado Ekiti in 2008.
However, the FPA Team Oladebeye had consistently been in top form since 2018, when the Institution came second at the 19th edition in Nasarawa, while Ado Ekiti also went down as the overall winner of the 20th NIPOGA and 20th NIPOSSGA respectively held at Ilorin in 2020 and Ogwashi-Uku in 2021, which feat has now been repeated back to back at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
The hard fighting Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, which reportedly attended the 21st NIPOGA with the largest contingent of over 200 Students Athletes, secured the second position with a total of 52 medals, comprising of 13 Gold, 22 Silver and 17 Bronze
