Nigerian Army Seizes Truck Smuggling Ammunition to Anambra

Nigerian Army operating in 81 Division Area of Responsibility has recently seized an international ammunition truck, transporting smuggled ammunition to Anambra State.

This was conveyed in a statement signed by the Director Army Public Relations, Onyeka Nwachukwu via its Official Twitter Account @HQNigerianArmy.

It reads, “The truck was intercepted by Troops of 192 Battalion who acted on actionable Intelligence, conducted a meticulous and rigorous stop and search operation along Ajilete-Owode Road, Yewa North Local Government Area in Ogun State.

“The illegal ammunition in a truck with registration number ENU 697 XY, loaded with 720 packets of Red Star Cartridges of 12 Calibre, containing 25 cartridges per packet, totalling 18, 000 cartridges and an additional 250 packets of live (black) cartridges containing 10 packets each, totalling 2500 cartridges of same calibre.”

As contained in the statement, the ammunition was concealed in a supposed empty truck imported from Mali through Idiroko International Border by the suspects, identified as Mr. Eric Seworvor, a Ghanaian National, and the driver, Mr Lukman Sani, who have been taken into custody.

Following this, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja commended the troops for their resilience, urging them remain consistent in their aim to safeguard the security of the Country.
