Nigerian Army has zero tolerance for drugs abuse, Army Chief tells Soldiers

…charges Commanders to educate personnel on consequences

The Nigeria Chief of Army Staff, COAS Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya has called on Commanders to educate the force personnel on the consequences involved in consuming and marketing hard drugs saying that Nigeria Army has zero tolerance for drug abuse cases.

The Army Chief made the call recently during an Anti-Drugs and Narcotics Control Conference put together by the Initiative Against Addiction and Substance Abuse in Nigeria (IAASAN), in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Sokoto.

The Army Chief was represented by the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army/ Commander Joint Taskforce North West Operation HADARIN DAJI, Major General Godwin Mutkut.

According to him, any personnel found engaging in drug abuse will face the consequences as stipulated by the laws adding that, the Nigerian Army has zero tolerance for drug abuse cases.

He said in an attempt to discourage personnel from the menace (drug abuse) the Nigerian Army has coordinated efforts toward proper concerns on personnel welfare.
