Former All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential Candidate and now APC Chieftain Garba Adamu, has alleged that the United States and France are interested in military conflict in West Africa, saying that they stand to gain from “lucrative” Oil, Uranium and Weapons deals
The former Presidential candidate said this on his Twitter page
@adamugarba.
Establishing his allegations, he said, “It is to be noted that the United States have two military bases in Niger: 101 Base in Niamey and 201 bases in Agadez, in addition to French 6000 strong operations Barkhane Military bases, yet non of them intervened in preventing the coup, they simply let it happen. The ousted President Bazoum was the most pro-western leader in the region, yet they didn’t help him.
“I believe that it is in the interests of France and the U.S that military conflict should start within West Africa, neighbours fighting each other because they stand to gain more opportunities in the area on lucrative Oil, Uranium and Weapons deals from both sides should any of military conflict breaks out.”
According to him, policymakers should avoid making West Africa another Ukraine where weapons (including biological) are tested and Africa resources are plundered in exchange for military support, adding that direct military intervention destroys African collective peace, and northern Nigeria may be the hot zone.
Garba recommended a strategic, diplomatic approach to solving the problem emphasising that former President Mohammadu Buhari is respected in Niger and should lead a diplomatic delegation to restore constitutional order in the francophone country.
“Nigeria’s former President Buhari is well respected in Niger Republic. If a high-powered delegation that includes a renowned Nigerian businessman, Alhaji Dahiru Manual, is nominated, under Buhari’s leadership, to negotiate a total restoration of peace and return to constitutional order, this will work best in our national security interests.” He said.
