Niger Coup: U.S Commends Tinubu’s Leadership Role

Following series of diplomatic approaches by the Economic Community Of West Africa, ECOWAS, to restore order in the Niger Republic, the United States, U.S. has commended President Bola Tinubu for his leadership role amid the crisis.

This is coming few days after Tinubu who is the Head of the regional body (ECOWAS) oversaw Nigeria diplomats who reached out to the Niger Juntas in a calculated effort to restore peace.

The U.S. Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken disclosed on his Twitter handle @SecBlinken that he spoke with Tinubu lately and revealed the US position.

Blinken said, “Spoke to Nigerian President Tinubu to commend his leadership of the Economic Community of West African States and discussed shared efforts to restore constitutional order in Niger.”
