The Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (NICA) has admitted and certified new associates to promote the use and domestication of arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution in the society.
The ceremony which was conducted as part of the 2023 Annual Arbitration/ADR Conference held Abuja witnessed the induction of the Acting Director of Works and Services, Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Engineer Folasade Adebayo as one of the new Arbitrators.
The institute expects the inductees to maintain and improve the standard of ethics and professional conduct in the arbitration and alternative dispute resolution in Nigeria and beyond.
In a chat with newsmen, the Acting Director of Works and Services Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Engineer Folasade Adebayo, described the assignment as an onerous task that must be carried out without fear or favour to ensure peaceful coexistence and a safe society.
Engineer Adebayo, who is also the first female Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers in Ekiti State, urged young professionals to ensure strict adherence to ethics and principles guiding their profession and be diligent in order to get to the peak of their careers.
She thanked the institute for finding her worthy of the honour and assignment.
