NGO TRAINS FIFTY YOUNG WOMEN IN EKITI ON MENSTRUAL HYGIENE, SUPPORTS PARTICIPANTS WITH REUSABLE PAD

A cross section of young women from Iyin Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun local government area of Ekiti State have been trained on how to maintain proper hygiene during menstruation due to the health benefits.

In addition the participants were given reusable sanitary pads when was produced during the programme.

This development is part of efforts to promote menstrual health among young women and boost their confidence in the society.

The initiative was organized by Mrs. Morenike Johnson, Head of the Culture and Tourism Unit in the Office of the Leader of the Senate, National Assembly.

The program brought together 50 female participants between the ages of 18 and 35

Participants received valuable talks on wellness and menstrual health, alongside hands-on training on how to sew reusable sanitary pads for personal use and potential small-scale production.

The program was carried out in collaboration with Female Network, a notable NGO in Ekiti State, led by its Executive Director, Mrs. Oluwaseun Ajifowobaje, whose organization supported the training and learning sessions.

Addressing the participants, Akinwunmi Mopelola urged them to take advantage of the opportunity due to its health and social benefits.

She said the initiative aimed at empowering young women with knowledge, skills, and improved awareness of menstrual hygiene and sustainable health practices.
