A few days ago, the NPFL Club owners paid a courtesy visit to the President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau.
The Club owners were not miserly with their purpose of visit as they made bare problems that have encumbered the growth of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). The Club owners may have not been bold enough to be so vocal before September 30, 2022 but one thing is clear, there is a time for everything. They now have the leverage and they did the needful.
Don’t dwell too much interrogating the Club Owners’ silence in the past; rather we should endeavour to identify more of the limiting factors to the growth of Football in Nigeria. How has Club Owners contributed to the problems in Football in Nigeria? What can we do to solve these problems and then move our Football growth indices to higher levels? The Club Owners position was greeted with criticism and some measure of lampooning. Not bad at all. The response was expected. Some respondents commended the Club Owners. I expect more responses. I believe more reactions will also bring some inputs that will help us arrive at the resolution of the myriads of problems associated with Football in Nigeria.
I commend the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau for that particular event which I see as setting in motion the process for the IDENTIFICATION of our PROBLEMS and it shall serve as the solid FOUNDATION upon which we shall build upon the NEW FOOTBALL STRUCTURE of our dreams. I expect also a meeting with the Player’s Union with a view to uniting members of the Player’s body. Take the problems and deal with them decisively and the results will be overwhelmingly cheering. History beckons on Ibrahim Musa Gusau and his Team to rebrand Football holistically in Nigeria.
Therefore, Ibrahim Musa Gusau must lead a Team that is SELFLESS, INNOVATIVE, DECISIVE and RESOLUTE. History beckons.
