New NSCDC Ekiti Commandant, Igbalawole, Assumes Duty, Pledges Stronger Security Collaboration

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ekiti State Command, has a new leadership with the assumption of duty by Commandant Sotiyo Igbalawole Emmanuel as the 18th substantive State Commandant.

Commandant Sotiyo took over from Commandant Toma Matthew Enya during a formal handing-over ceremony held at the NSCDC State Headquarters along Ado-Ikere Road. The transition followed the redeployment of Commandant Enya to the Osun State Command, where he replaced Commandant Sotiyo.

Speaking at the ceremony, Commandant Sotiyo appreciated the Commandant-General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, for the confidence reposed in him. He also commended the outgoing Commandant for his contributions to the development of the Ekiti Command and wished him success in his new posting.

Describing his appointment as a privilege and a call to greater service, Sotiyo pledged to justify the trust placed in him. He stressed the need for unity, teamwork, and cooperation among officers, noting that effective security delivery requires collective effort.

“A united Command will be better positioned to discharge our statutory responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to the security and development of Ekiti State,” he said.

The leadership change is part of the Corps’ ongoing redeployment of senior officers to strengthen command structures and enhance operational effectiveness.

Immediately after the ceremony, the outgoing Commandant led Sotiyo on a courtesy visit to the Ekiti State Government Office, where he was received by the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Monisade Afuye, on behalf of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

During the visit, Commandant Sotiyo reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to supporting the state government in maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and safeguarding critical national assets.

He also paid a courtesy visit to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Brig. Gen. Ebenezer Ogundana (rtd). He emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing, inter-agency cooperation, and prompt response to security threats.

Brig. Gen. Ogundana welcomed the new Commandant and assured him of his office’s support, stressing the need for security agencies to work closely in the interest of Ekiti residents.

The visits provided the new NSCDC leadership an opportunity to interface with key stakeholders and reaffirm the importance of collaboration between government and security agencies in promoting peace and security across the state.
