The new set of National executives who will pilot the affairs of the Federation of Ekiti State Students Union, FESSU nationwide have been sworn in.
They are, Comrades Abel Adewale Ajibade as the President, Isola Oke Mathew-National Vice President, Oluoladele Oluwaseun-State Vice President, Babayomi Temitope Peter-General Secretary, Ayodele Oluwatoyin-Assistant General Secretary, Ojurongbe Opeyemi-Financial Secretary, Fagbemi Oluwasola-Treasurer, Onileowo Benjamin-Public Relations Officer, PRO, Ayodele Moyin Temitope-Welfare Director, Olofintuade Anthony-Director of Social, Art and culture.
In his acceptance speech, the new National President, Federation of Ekiti State Students Union, FESSU, Comrade Abel Adewale Ajibade, popularly known as “GEN MIAMI” promised to justify the confidence reposed in him by giving adequate representation to the students who are of Ekiti origin.
Comrade Abel Adewale Ajibade said FESSU would witness and attain greater heights under his leadership in line with his campaign promises.
According to GEN MIAMI, a roadmap which will guide his administration has been designed which include Rejuvenation of academic excellence, Establishment of membership portals, Vocational training/self employment, Amelioration of bursary/scholarship, Maintaining Students health and security and Positioning of FESSU in the national spotlight.
He however sought the support of all members of the union to cooperate with the executives to achieve success and place it on the world map.
The out gone FESSU National President, Comrade Charles Awolola appreciated God and those who contributed to the success of his administration.
Comrade Charles Awolola said efforts taken to get the support of Ekiti State government for union did not yield positive results, which slowed down the pace of development of the union.
He listed some of the achievements of his administration to include inauguration of five new chapters in some higher institutions, successful organizing FESSU week and giving encouragement/support to secondary school students, among others.
In his goodwill message, the Owa Ajero of Ijero-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Adewole told the executives to prioritize the interest of their followers and run open door administration.
Oba Adewole also advised them to give room for criticism and seek advice from those who have experience about union matters.
“Be forthright, transparent and be honest as you run the administration of the Federation of Ekiti State Students Union, FESSU nationwide”.
Chairman on the occasion, Captain Sunday Adebomi Retired advised the executives to live up to expectation of those who trusted them with their votes.
A former FESSU presidential aspirant, Comrade Idowu Odebunmi, popularly known as “ID Aluta” enjoined the new set of executives to always consult former union leaders for advice and ensure that all Ekiti State students home and abroad are unified.
Comrade Idowu Odebunmi who is the APC candidate for Ekiti State House of Assembly, Oye Constituency two called on students to face their studies and not allow any form of distraction to affect their education.
At the swearing in ceremony, a former Deputy Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Adetunji Orisalade was decorated as the Legal Adviser to FESSU.
Certificates of stewardship were presented to the out gone executive members for their meritorious services to the union.
