Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, in Ekiti State, Com. Kolapo Olatunde has refuted the purported reports that labour leaders walked out on Governor Biodun Oyebanji at the negotiation meeting on the implementation of the new minimum wage.
In a statement in Ado-Ekiti, Olatunde clarified that the federal government is working on the consequential adjustment for the N70,000 new minimum wage, the committee was inaugurated last week Friday.
Recall that there was a report that “Ekiti workers’ representatives walked out on Governor BAO as he refused to implement the ₦75,000 minimum wage, insisting that workers accept ₦55,000 instead.”
The NLC Chairman described the news as being far from the truth.
“The labour centres are working assiduously in ensuring perfect implementation of minimum wage for workers, hence the need to work in tune with the National Consequential adjustment salary table”
