…says committee is making progress
The Chairman of the Joint Negotiating Council, Ekiti State, Comrade Oluwafemi Ajoloko has advised the workers in the state to disregard whatever rumour being spread on the various social media platforms as regards the payment of minimum wage.
Ajoloko in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti confirmed that some fifth columnists have continued to spread fake news about the minimum wage urging workers to disregard them.
He noted that a message has been trending online with the fake narrative that Ekiti workers’ representatives walked out on Governor BAO as he refused to implement the ₦75,000 minimum wage, as against the federal government approved #70,000
The JNC Chairman explained that such information was just the figment of the purveyor’s imagination, saying nothing of such happened
He said: As a member of the committee set up by the Governor to come up with template for payment, I can confirm to you that at no time did the Governor met with us, let alone recording a walk out.
“As a matter of fact, the Governor is eager to receive resolutions from us so as to begin necessary implementation.
“I wouldn’t have dignify the purveyors of the fake news with a reply, but because of unsuspecting workers and members of the public who have inaundated me with calls after coming across the fake news.
Ajoloko affirmed that the message was riddled with errors perhaps because it was put up in hurry just to cause confusion but said the mastermind and his cohorts have failed.
According to him, the committee set up by the Governor to work on template of payment was already meeting and making meaningful progress, hence the need for workers to remain calm and wait for further information from the labour Force.
