Methodist Church Nigeria Omuo-Ekiti Diocese Holds First Synod

…as Pioneer Bishop Assures Congregation of More Spiritual Development

The Bishop, Methodist Church Nigeria, Omuo Diocese, Right Reverend Dr. Rufus Babalola says expansion of the Gospel of God, spiritual and infrastructural development will top his priorities as the pioneer Bishop of the Diocese.

The Rt. Rev. Dr.Babalola stated this during the first Synod of the Diocese held at Wesley Cathedral Omuo-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

According to the Bishop, the maiden edition of the annual Synod afforded them the opportunity to discuss on modalities to run the Diocese in order to move forward.

He listed some of the resolutions of the Synod to include banishing of indiscipline act among Christians, imbibing culture of investment by the church, need for church members to run away from false teachings.

Others according to the Bishop are that government should go back to true federalisim to promote good governance, government should handle issue of insecurity seriously and the need for residents of Ekiti state to support Governor Biodun Oyebanji to succeed.

In a sermon during a thanksgiving service to conclude the first Synod, the Bishop, Methodist Church Nigeria, Okun Diocese, Right Reverend Albert Olorunmade who reflected on the theme of the synod “Contending For the Faith” said the roles of the church in building a virile society had been eroded by worldly things.

Rt. Rev. Olorunmade linked the various challenges facing the country to lack of fear of God, decline in prayer, too much love for money and worldly materials.

He however urged Christians to always defend the faith handed to them by God, by showing examples of good Christians wherever they find themselves.

The Lay President of the Methodist Diocese of Omuo, Professor Emmanuel Fasakin appreciated God and those who made the creation of the Diocese come to reality and the success of the maiden Synod in the Diocese.

Professor Fasakin expressed the readiness of the faithful to contribute to the growth and development of the Diocese to rank among the best in Ekiti.
