A High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State has sentenced one Ayegbusi Ojo to life imprisonment over the rape of a minor in the State.
Justice J.O Adeyeye today convicted and sentenced Ojo on a lone count offence of rape of a girl of 15 years.
The innocent survivour (victim) of the rape was coming from school when she was accosted by the convict, who lured her into his room and had carnal knowledge of her.
The girl could not tell anybody of her nasty experience but her father found out when the girl collapsed at home and blood was gushing out of her private part and she was rushed to the hospital while the convict was arrested and charged to Court.
He was charged with the offence of rape contrary to section 31 (2) of the Child’s Rights Law, Cap.C7, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The learned Director of Public Prosecutions, Julius Ajibare, Esq, who prosecuted the case for Ekiti State called 5 witnesses and tendered 3 exhibits in support of his case.
The convict, who spoke through his counsel, E O. Sunmonu, Esq gave evidence in his defence and called one additional witness.
The Honourable Court delivered his judgement and held that the Prosecution proved the offence of rape against the defendant beyond reasonable doubt.
The Court consequently convicted the defendant and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
