Livestock Farmers Reduce Prices of Poultry Products After Support by Ekiti Governor

The Poultry Association of Nigeria, Ekiti State chapter has urged beneficiaries of free maize palliatives injected into the industry, to ensure downward review of their farm products while the stock last with them.

This is contained in a letter of appreciation written in Ado Ekiti and signed by the Chairman of the Association, Mr Oluwasetemi Alonge, following bags of maize freely distributed as palliative to livestock farmers by Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration.

Mr Alonge who noted that Maize remained the largest percentage of local feed mills production and such had been freely provided, stressed that the palliative gesture must be felt by the end users.

He expressed optimism that an average of one hundred percent discount should be felt on eggs, chicken and feed Mills which would inturn bring the prices down averagely.

The Poultry Association chairman listed the prices of live stock as envisaged like #2700/#3000 at farmgate as against#3100/#3300 earlier experienced, Chicken #2700 per kilogramme as against#2900/#3300, Layers mash at #11000 per bag as against#12500.

Mr Alonge promised that the gesture would be strictly monitored to ensure compliance while non-compliance would disqualify defaulters from future exercise as well as benefits.
