The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi has said, the Police is empowered by the law to search anyone, anywhere, but must be professional.
He said this on his X handle @Princemoye1 while responding to one @Apostlekay7 who lamented over security Forces’ frequent search.
He said, “The Police have the powers, as also enshrined in its Act, 2020, to search anyone or anywhere, investigate, and prosecute accordingly, but must be professional. Read sections 214 to 216 of the CFN 2010 as amended. You will be more informed about the duties and powers of the NPF.”
According to him, it is only the police that have the power to intervene in all cases, with no limitations. “Narcotic section for drug cases, Motor Traffic Division (MTD) for traffic cases, SFU and CyberCrime Centre for fraud and financial crimes, vandalism and bunkering cases, its Anti Pipeline bunkering and vandalism, talk of any crimes, the police has a unit to attend to all. We are Jack of all trades, master of ALL.”
