Prophet James Omitade of the Holy Trinity Authority Prophetic Church, Ado Ekiti has expressed concern over the rot in families and churches.
According to Omitade in his sermon tagged “Knowledge And Teaching that Liberates” the lack of proper teachings of the word and responsible modeling of children by parents had complicated the matter.
Omitade noted that many youths only bear Christians because of their names and not because of their attitudes.
He said:”Everyone who calls himself or herself a christian no matter their pedigree will manifest it through obedience to the word of God. It is unfortunate these days that people attach the prefix ‘christian’ to us because of the bible names we bear or because of the frequency of our presence in one church or the other.
“Youths these days will tell you they are Christians because they are from christian families. Whereas there is no iota of godly teaching from the bible in them and neither can you see any signs of morality from christian homes in them.
“It is not only the youth that are in this category. Adults and old people are scampering to enlist their names and presence in Christian nomenclature yet the nation Nigeria is in disarray! No one plies his or her life with the word of God. The teachings we received from bible studies and Sunday schools have been jettisoned because they are now old schools.
Omitade noted that there is a huge curse on the land because nobody walks with the fear of God. “We traverse churches and prayer mountains, vigil upon vigil, crusades, revivals. We end up doing according to the old man’s dictate, the Adamic nature.
“In Psalm 128, the bible tells us “The blessing that’s supposed to be the lot of all them that fear the Lord and walk in his ways. The Lord compares them to a fruitful vine. In the first verse of the chapter, the bible says ” Blessed is everyone that feareth the LORD; that walketh in His ways”. How many people enjoy the blessings in this prayer? Only the few that fear the Lord and walk in his ways. How many people will say they are proud of their Christian heritage these days? Not very many. The reason is that,because of unbelief, unbelievers look better and fare better than christians.
He noted that most parents who find it difficult to train their children with the word of God now believe they can push it all to the teachers in school.
“These parents end up buying results (school cert) for the kids through miracle Centres. For the kids who manage to enter public (state or fed) universities, they budget for bribes and inducement to obtain favour for their kids from some wayward lecturers. It is the same story in all higher institutions: universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and technology e.t.c. Tell me, what is the worth or value of first degree now compared to about four decades ago? Even though people pay through their noses to attend higher institutions, the bitter truth is that education is now cheaper by the dozens. It lacks knowledge and morality.
“This is the reason several countries in the western hemisphere do not recognize first degree from Nigerian universities.What is the value of the children from each home worth? The level of training and morality impacted in each of them defines their value.
“How many parents embraced proper training and morality that they can pass to the next generation? A good number of them are called parents even though they were not matured and tutored enough before being put in the family way. Whereas the bible in Prov 22:6 says “Train up a child in the way he should go:and when he is old, he will not depart from it”. When will the homes be straightened up? We may not hope for a prosperous country if the homes and the products of the homes are fake.
It is high time we all woke up to the biblical reality about what the word of God says!
