Former Commissioner for Works in Ekiti State, Mrs Ogun Funmilayo Theresa (OFT) , has appealed to Ekiti and Nigerians in general to keep hope alive in spite of numerous challenges constituting a clog in the wheel of progress of the nation.
Ogun in her Christmas message, said the nation has every natural endowment that can offer prosperity to all the citizens instead of sufferings, assuring that the 2026 governorship poll in Ekiti and the general election of 2027 would redirect the country back to the path of sanity, when a new dawn shall be birthed at all levels of governance.
The People’s Democratic Party stalwart felicitated Christians on the global occasion and prayed for God’s guidance for them to stand tall in their services to Christ, whose birth has brought hope to humanity.
Reflecting on the multifaceted crises hitting the nation, Ogun stated that the birth of Jesus Christ was enough signal of hope for the citizens, saying what the citizens require are sacrifices, love, unity and piety to be able to do justice to all manners of issues that can bring Nigeria out of the current economic and political doldrums.
Ogun appealed to Nigerians to ruminate deeply on the birth of Jesus Christ for resounding attitudinal change that can bring economic, political and social renaissance that can straighten all rough edges for Nigeria to grow in leaps and bounds.
The PDP leader said: “The birth of Jesus Christ was a path to salvation. But for us to be saved as a nation, we must reflect on our attitudes and think of how best we can handle all our national assignments with the fear of God.
“We shouldn’t just reduce the occasion to wining and dining alone, we must reflect soundly on our behaviours during all national assignments.
“We must shun vices like electoral heist, corruption, religious extremism, banditry, nepotic tendencies tendencies and other social malaise for us to be really disentangled from all our sufferings, so that the birth of Jesus Christ shall bring positivities to our lives.
“We have the opportunity to take those actions that will be in the best interest of our country in our current and future assignments, so that we can get it right and move the nation forward.
“I rejoice with you on this occasion and pray that the birth of Jesus Christ that has brought hope to humanity will bring prosperity, progress and development to us as a people”, Ogun stated.
