…hails Oyebanji over increment of LCDA monthly allocation
In a bid to cushion the effects of subsidy removal on Ekiti residents, the Chairman of Irede Local Council Development Area, Hon. Abobade Olugbenga on monday commenced distribution of palliatives to vulnerable indigenes of the area particularly Ipoti-Ekiti and Odo Owa.
The Council Boss noted that the state government gave 30 bags of Rice to the 3 wards in Ipoti and Odo Owa, which is to be shared among 150 vulnerable citizens in each ward.
The chairman who spoke while featuring on Voice FM, promised the readiness of his government to serve the people diligently and extend the dividends of democracy to them.
He mentioned those mostly captured n the Palliatives to include widows, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and the poorest of the poor.
Hon. Olugbenga affirmed that the palliatives may not likely solve every challenges, but it will mitigate the current hardship faced by vulnerable persons.
According to him, the food was given out to concerned citizens without preference for religion sex and Political differences as directed by Governor Biodun Oyebanji
In his words, “As a chairman I have embarked on many meaningful projects that have positive impact on my people and I will continue to work as long as I remain in office.
“I want to appreciate the Governor for what he has done. If not because of him, we wouldn’t have reached this stage.”
He also commended the state Governor for increasing the monthly allocation to LCDAs which has enabled Council Chairmen to perform more effectively and deliver appropriately to their people.
“When I assumed office in January 4, 2022, the allocation we received from the previous administration was low but the current Governor has increased it and apart from that, Governor Biodun Oyebanji also set aside another money for us for pure capital project.”
The Council Boss mentioned his achievements to include renovation of the LCDA Secretariat, building and construction of drainages, renovation of Security outfits and revival of palm tree plantation.
Others are 20 completed lock -up Shops at lpoti, that intends to increase lGR when rent out to traders and thus to compliment fund accrued from Federation Account, 50 solar power lights across the length and breath of the LCDA.
He noted that efforts to empower the youths in the LCDA is also in pipe line through establishment of computer Center and introducing them to skill acquisition programmes.
“There is also a Social security programme for elderly citizens with monthly stipend to alleviate financial challenges being faced by the downtrodden.
