IPAC DEBUNKS ALLEGED PLAN TO IMPOSE MONARCH ON IJESA-ISU COMMUNITY

Regent of Ijesa–isu

… says claims baseless, misleading

All Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), in Ijesa–isu Ekiti have dismissed claims by one Elder Omoyele Ajobiewe, alleging that Governor Biodun Oyebanji, a former Deputy Governor, Chief Paul Olatunde Alabi and the Chairman of Kajola Local Development Area, Hon. Ojo Ajayi, were plotting to impose David Oluwasegun Ateji as the monarch of Ijesa-Isu Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Addressing journalists on Friday, the Public Relations Officer of the Association, Segun Abiodun described the allegation as baseless and misleading, insisting that the government of Ekiti State has no hand in the traditional selection process.

According to him, only the recognised kingmakers have the constitutional and traditional mandate to choose the next monarch of Ijesa-Isu, adding that no one pressured or influenced them in the discharge of their duties.

He cautioned individuals and groups against making statements capable of disrupting the peace and unity of the town, urging those accusing the government to desist from heating up the polity.

Abiodun reaffirmed the Association’s support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji, stressing that the community would not tolerate attempts to tarnish its image or malign respected personalities.

His words, “We heard that the Omoyele Ajobiewe led group alleged that our Chairman and the State Government want to impose a Monarch on them.

“I’m using this opportunity to tell the whole world that it’s all lies, the government of Ekiti State has done well to Ijesa-Isu and the Government is not involved in the traditional process.

“The Kingmakers only have the right to choose and nobody put them under duress to manipulate the process.

“On this note, those who mentioned the Ekiti State Government should desist from statements that can destabilise the peace of our town.

“We are strongly behind the government of Governor Biodun Oyebanji. We are not in support of those tarnishing the name of our community.

“We, the coalition of political parties strongly condemn those who mentioned Elder Paul Adamu, he’s been part of the people bringing development to the Town over the past thirty years”.
