…as World Bank Assures Ekiti of more Support

As part of efforts to build Ekiti state Health Sector, the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji says it will continue to give priority to health of residents of the state through provision of necessary equipment to health facilities across the country.
The Governor stated this on Monday in Ado Ekiti during the Flag off Ceremony of the “Impact Project” held at the Conference hall of the Governor’s office.
Mr Oyebanji explained that 177 health facilities received 4.6 million to purchase drugs, equipment and others necessary things to ensure that quality health services were given to residents.
According to him, the Primary objective is to provide good and quality health service, reduce maternity and child mortality rate.
“We need to work hard to reduce the mortality rate, We are committed to achieving the expected result. The state government will ensure that every naira is accounted for. We will prioritise accountability.
“As at today, there are over 10 World Bank Projects in different sectors in Ekiti state, I advise all stakeholders to put hands together toward the realisation of this project.”
Earlier, the World Bank Country Director of Nigeria, Shubham Chaudhuri said the World Bank supported Ekiti state government to ensure that people have access to health facilities, saying it is a privilege and honor that we are able to secure this here.
Speaking about policy to ensure finances are utilised as expected, he said, “We give the money in installments, and input will come every 2 months; the report from the first 2 months will determine the next month’s fund.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the state’s Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani who said several health programmes were ongoing in the state, like the Malaria elimination programme and impact project, which provide free health services on malaria.
He said the projects were made to allow facilities and resources to go round the health facilities for the benefit of the residents.
He also appreciated all team in the health sector for their support towards the pursuit of the project.
