INSECURITY: Local Government Service Commission holds prayer session in Emure, Ise Orun LG

…as Council Chairmen commend Mrs Ojo’s initiative

Prayer Programme organised by the Local Government Service Commission, LGSC, in Ekiti State to seek an end to the insecurity in the State and the country has been held in Emure and Ise Ekiti Local Governments.

The prayer which was held under the leadership of the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Mrs Titilayo Toba- Ojo, is geared towards offering prayers and supplications to God to end the spate of kidnappings and killings in the state.

The prayer had sometime this year took place in Ikere and Ado-Ekiti local government areas.

Speaking with journalists at the Emure-Ekiti local Government headquarters, the council Chairman, Hon. Adedayo Tosin said that Nigeria needs prayers to tackle the issue of insecurity.

He commended the Permanent Secretary for the lofty idea noting that the step will go a long way in ending the menace of insecurity.

He said: “Prayer is very important in the lives of everybody. Whatever you need in life, you have to approach God. That is why the issues of kidnapping in Ekiti State and Nigeria needs special prayers.

“I believe it is God that opened the eyes of the Permanent Secretary to organize this prayer across the local governments. It is very important to tackle the issue of insecurity in Nigeria.”

In Ise Ekiti, Chairman the Local Government, Hon. Ayodele Samson Bankole heaped praises on the Permanent Secretary while calling on government to key into the vision to end the issue of insecurity.

His words: “Looking at the situation of things in this country, the only thing we need now is prayer. I want to commend the Permanent Secretary for this good initiative.

“God is in control of the universe. Let him take control of this country, state and local government. It is a good initiative and it is helping. This is one of the things that will help government at all levels and will make the country to move forward by his grace.”

Speaking during the tour in Emure and Ise/Orun LGAs, Permanent Secretary of the LGSC, Mrs Titilayo Toba-Ojo said the prayer was necessitated as a result of insecurity and economic hardship in the country.

She expressed joy over the commitment of the local government workers to the prayer exercise while urging them to remain dedicated in discharging their duties.

The permanent secretary appreciated Governor Biodun Oyebanji for paying priority to the welfare workers,promising that he would be given necessary support to achieve success.

She said: “It is so heartwarming, impressive for everybody to meet members of staff in this office at this time. I am happy to have them and everybody keyed into this prayer programme. It gladdens my heart.

“They should continue in the same vein. They should be coming to their offices. The government of Biodun Oyebanji has done so much for us and we must not repay him with absenteeism. I encourage the staff to be coming as expected.”

Also, President of NULGE, Ekiti State, Comrade Oluseyi Olatunde assured the workers that the Almighty God will answer their prayers adding that the Permanent Secretary didn’t disobey the calling to organize the prayers.

“I want to assure you that what you have done today won’t go in vain and you are going to have testimony. I want to thank you for being obedient to God and not killing that inspiration. I want to appreciate you for not being selfish.”
