Insecurity: Falegan Advises Oyebanji

An Ado-Ekiti-born, UK military man, Opeyemi David Falegan has offered to assist Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji with proficiently relevant security tips and advice that could help him on what he described as worrisome security situation in the state

The Security Expert, who is also the Founder of Opeyemi David Falegan Foundation specifically condemned in very strong terms, the abduction of innocent people by unknown gunmen on Saturday at Emure /Eporo Ekiti.

Falegan deplored the growing instances of abduction and violent crimes in the state most especially at Emure -Eporo road.

He warned of dire consequences should the situation remain unchecked.

“Security is critical to development and the wellbeing of citizens. No society can achieve any meaningful progress in an atmosphere of continuous fear and intimidation. I believe the protection of life and property should naturally top the priority list of any government

“Unfortunately, our people have lived for an unusually long period, under this incessant attack and intimidation from hoodlums and kidnappers.

“But we cannot continue to live in perpetual fear. Ekiti people have a right to dividends of democracy, and the in provision of security should be the starting point.”

Falegan, who said he was particularly concerned about his people’s safety as a result the security situation in the state added that he was ready to assist the state Governor on how to go about the current security situation in the state.

The Security Expert advised the state governor to facilitate a military post inter state boundaries in the state.

He also urged the state government to empower and equip all the security agencies and machinery in the state.

“I think it is also important at this juncture to warn sponsors of terror that violent crimes, particularly kidnapping, is an ill-wind that blows no good. There is no way we can be a happy people if every news item emanating from our state centres on violence, impunity, harassment

Recall that gunmen on Saturday abducted three travellers in Emure, Ekiti State. The attackers also killed One late Mr. Taiwo Oluwole, the husband of one of the captives.

A source who pleaded anonymity, said, the incident occurred in the evening along Emure-Supare Road in Emure.

It could be recalled that some pupils of Apostolic Faith Children School were kidnapped at the same spot in January this year and the bus driver late Mr. Olugbaye was killed.

Sources told journalists that, Oluwole and his wife were returning to Akure after attending a family event in Emure when their vehicle, a Toyota Camry, was ambushed.

Oluwole was hit by the bullet, and his wife, along with two other occupants of the car, was subsequently kidnapped.

Another top source reported, “Taiwo Oluwole was killed, while his wife and two others were taken into captivity inside the bush. He was shot while the vehicle was on motion and died instantly.
