…restates commitment to press freedom
The Commissioner for Information, Ekiti State, Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun has enjoined Journalists in the state to sustain the existing professionalism and use their platforms wisely.
He made this known while playing host to the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council.
The commissioner affirmed that no nation or society can grow without the support of the media, adding that government will provide the enabling environment for Journalists to operate freely.
He urged the team not to deviate from the core essence of journalism by reporting issues unbaisly with fairness both to the government and people
According to him, the present government is determined to deliver on its promises for the people to the people.
Earlier, The Chairman, NUJ, Ekiti State Council, Comr. Kayode Babatuyi solicited the support of the Commissioner of information in facilitating the construction of the union’s press center.
More so, the chairman proposed to the Commissioner to help encourage and support his staff to maximize the training programme made available at the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), in other to upscale their certification.
He cited the need for union members to benefit from government appointment while promising the union’s constant support and mutual respect to the ministry.
