The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Ekiti State Office has commenced the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, to registered voters across the state from today, Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, announced the exercise in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, urging all eligible citizens who registered but are yet to collect their PVCs to do so within the stipulated period.
According to INEC, collection will hold at Registration Areas/Wards across Ekiti from Tuesday, June 2 to Monday, June 8, 2026. The commission said the exercise will then move to respective Local Government Area offices from Tuesday, June 9 to Thursday, June 11, 2026.
Dr. Omoseyindemi stressed that the PVC is more than an identification document. “It is an instrument of democratic participation and a vital tool through which citizens exercise their constitutional right to vote and shape the future of their communities and the nation at large.
The REC reminded residents that civic responsibility extends beyond registration. “The collection of PVCs remains a personal responsibility and an important step in ensuring active participation in the electoral process. Every vote counts, and every eligible voter has a role to play in strengthening our democracy,” he added.
INEC said it remains committed to conducting credible, transparent and inclusive elections. The commission called on community leaders, youth groups, stakeholders and the general public to help sensitize registered voters to collect their cards.
Voters with inquiries were advised to visit the nearest INEC office in their LGA for assistance.
