Ijidale Hails Governor Oyebanji for Assenting to Ekiti State Local Content Bill, 2024

…. commends Ekiti State House of Assembly for a job well done with a promise to uphold the law diligently

The Director General, Bureau of Local Content, Ekiti State, Mr. Olalekan Ijidale has showered encomium on the members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly for the amendment and passage of the Ekiti State Local Content Law, 2024.

Ijidale also commended Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for assenting to the bill, saying such step is a demonstration of his sincere commitment to the development of the Ekiti Local Content for economic stability.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, Ijidale affirmed that the amended law would now give his office the full authority to operate effectively without any fear.

He promised to uphold the law and work by it’s dictates in the discharge of his duties while calling on relevant stakeholders particularly, manufacturers, contractors, skilled workers and traders of construction materials to cooperate with his office.

He urged them to also register with the Bureau for proper data base adding that registered traders, skilled workers and artisans would be recommended to contractors engaged by the State for patronage.

He however appealed to would be artisans to be diligent and upgrade their skills so as to meet up with the demand standard of the contractors.

According to him, the Bureau of Local Content is set up to ensure improved patronage of the human and material resources of the State towards creating jobs for youths and boost the economy of the State.

He said the Bureau would monitor activities of contractors to ensure that they engage more indigenous artisans and procure locally made material to carry out their jobs as contained in the amended law.

Ijidale said: I am indeed happy at the news of the signing into law of this bill which was passed by the Ekiti State House of Assembly, this is what we have been waiting for all this while and I am glad that the needful has been done.

“We can now operate fully and smoothly without any concern and this is why I would like to call for the support of all stakeholders particularly contractors, artisans and traders of construction materials to show understanding and cooperate with us.

“We will ensure strict compliance to the law without any preference or bias so as to ensure that we realize the dream of our Governor

Other bills signed into law are Ekiti State Regulation Approval Law, 2024; Ekiti State Environmental Protection and Watershed Management Agency Law, 2024 and Ekiti State Bureau of Asset Management Law, 2024 .
