IJIDALE CONTINUES IMPLEMENTATION OF EKITI LOCAL CONTENT LAW

…visits project sites unannounced

The Director General, Office of Local Content, Ekiti State, Olalekan Ijidale on Wednesday paid an unscheduled visit to some project sites within the state.

The visit by the DG is to further ascertain that contractors complied with the various principles of the Local Content Law among which are recruitment of 40% of their workforce from Ekiti State and patronizing of home based vendors.

Addressing journalists after the visit, Olalekan Ijidale confirmed that government of Oyebanji is passionate about the implementation of the laws so as to ensure inclusivity and guide against capital flight.

Ijidale said:”The Bureau stand to ensure that no project is carried out in ekiti state without inclusion of minimum of 40% of Ekiti indigenes among the workers on every site.

“The monitoring team of the Bureau visited Dromo International company, handling the Ikere- Ise Road project to perform headcount of the worker on site to ensure compliance with local content law.

The Director-General use the medium to advice the youths, professional in construction field, graduates and artisans to take advantage of these opportunities to visit the Bureau of Local Content for job opportunities in the ongoing projects across the State.

In a remark, some of the contractors appreciated the DG for his show of Love and understanding with a promise that they would continue to comply with the government’s directive.
