The outgoing Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has said he did not steal a Kobo from the government purse in his almost two-time tenure.
El-Rufai said this during a farewell media interaction in Kaduna, obtained by Daily trust as he challenged his predecessors to swear with Holy Qur’an that they did not stole from government treasury during their time.
“I can swear I never stole a Kobo from the government coffers.
“As a result of that, every Naira and Kobo that we got, whether revenue or allocation from Abuja or loan, I swear by God, we have used it for the development of our people. We didn’t take and put in our pockets or take them to buy houses in Dubai, we don’t need that.”
According to Elrufai he built only one house before he became a governor and would retire to the house after his tenure elapses.
“I became governor of Kaduna with only one house on Danja Road at Ungwan Sarki, now am finishing to the glory of God, that is the only house I have. I didn’t build any mansion, I don’t need it,” he explained.
Elrufia claimed that a former governor whose name he withhold used public resources to build a mansion on Jabi Road in the ancient city, adding that other predecessors used stolen public resources to build houses in Kaduna, Dubai, and United Arab Emirates.
