Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bimbo Daramola, led family and well-wishers on a Christmas appreciation tour to six military formations across Ekiti State to recognize the sacrifices of Nigerian soldiers.
The tour covered Ijan Army Base, Ode Army Base, Command Secondary School in Isan-Ekiti, Igara-Odo Army Checkpoint, Adebayo Motor Post, and Ikole-Ekiti Soldiers’ Base. At each location, Daramola personally presented food items, including chickens, eggs, rice, towels, Christmas hats, and a solar-powered radio, to officers and men.
Addressing the soldiers, Daramola said the initiative was motivated purely by gratitude and patriotism, stressing that it was neither political nor sponsored by any organization. He highlighted the critical role soldiers play while citizens enjoy festive celebrations.
“You stay awake so that we can sleep. You face danger while others run from it. That is true patriotism,” Daramola told the soldiers, reminding them that their service often goes unrecognized during festive periods.

He urged Nigerians to show appreciation beyond government efforts, noting that public recognition strengthens soldiers’ morale. “Every Nigerian has a role to play. Hug a soldier and say thank you,” he said.
Daramola commended the President, the Chief of Defence Staff, service chiefs, and the Minister of Defence for prioritizing soldiers’ welfare but emphasized that citizen gratitude is equally important. He described the military as the embodiment of Nigeria’s unity and peace.
Daramola prayed for the safety of soldiers and their families, reminding the public that the spirit of Christmas includes recognition for those who serve selflessly.
The soldiers who were vividly happy expressed gratitude to Hon. Daramola.
