The Ijagba Progressive Forum has distributed food items to elderly indigenes above the age of 75 to cushion the effect of attacks unleashed on farmers in the land as a result of the lingering clash with herders.
The ongoing attack on farmers by the herdsmen in ijagba , Ose local government area of ondo state has kept the people of the community permanently away from their farm lands which is their mainstay, leading to poverty and food crisis.
The recent distribution of food items which was the maiden project of the Forum also complemented the 2022 Ijagba day, an annual festival of the sons and daughters of the town home and abroad.
The Acting National Coordinator of the Ijagba Progressives Forum , Mr Godwin Osubu in his address said
the attack by criminal herdsmen on the people has left them with no choice than to take the bull by the horns and stage such interventions.
“our people can no longer go to their farms, all farm lands have been destroyed by herdsmen and their cows” Osubu explained.
He noted further that the second project of the Forum will kick off in due course.
The Traditional Ruler of the kingdom , HRM Oba Andrew Ilevare Okioya 1,Odibiado of ijagba led his chiefs , leaders of political parties, supporters and friends of the town to celebrate the noble event.
The visibly impressed Oba Ilevare Okioya who gave his blessings during the distribution of the food items appealed to all ijagba sons and daughters to embrace peace and support his leadership.
He added that ijagba remains one, calling on the people to maintain unity irrespective of their Political affiliations.
